Letter of Invitation

Dear ECCO IBD Community,
Dear Friends,

It gives me great pleasure to invite you all to the 20th ECCO Congress! 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of the ECCO Congress, and it is a distinct honor for me to be hosting this event in my hometown of Berlin from February 19 to 22, 2025.

In 2024, the REACH strategy was successfully introduced with the objective of focusing on a single letter each year. In 2025, the focus will be on the letter A, which corresponds to the objective of Attaining Sustainable IBD Care. The resulting congress theme will be - Sustainability in IBD and beyond.

Attain Sustainable IBD Care – will be addressed from various points throughout the congress. These include the view on novel strategies to achieve a sustainable treatment, as well as the impact of lifestyle on health and the prevention of IBD. Other important points include the improvement of adherence to therapy, the use of monitoring tools and markers, and where do we place endoscopy? Of course, novelties in IBD care will also present an important part of the program. One crucial novelty will be the presentation of the revised IBD classification! The concept of sustainability in surgery will be explored in order to ensure long-term success and remission. Additional highlight sessions will include those on nutrition, the basic science session on novel genetic insights, hot topics in IBD and emerging challenges. The programme will be complemented by excellent abstracts, which will include all other innovative and current topics.

Additionally, the Scientific Programme will be live streamed and available on-demand on our virtual platform once the Congress is over.

In any case, it is worthwhile to have a look at the exciting Educational Programme and to inform yourself in time about the numerous courses such as IBD Intensive Course, School for Clinical Trialists, N-ECCO School and Postgraduate course to name just a few. The Educational Programme allows for intensive discussion and exchange.

I am very much looking forward to welcoming everybody in Berlin and work together towards our goal of providing better care for our patients.
