The 73rd ECCO Educational Workshop was held in Bucharest, Romania, on September 23, 2023. The workshop focused in the first session on specific clinical scenarios, including the management of acute severe ulcerative colitis, complicated Crohn's disease, and postoperative monitoring, and then addressed challenging and hot topics in the second session, such as treatment escalation and de-escalation and drug-associated side effects. The interest of the topics covered stimulated several interactive discussions, providing a platform for networking and exchange of innovative ideas.
The ECCO faculty consisted of Uri Kopylov and me (both E-ECCO members), who were joined by local faculty members Lucian Negreanu, Anamaria Singeap, Corina Meianu, Ioana Mandroc, Remus Stafie, Cristina Tocia, Monica State and Razvan Statie. All faculty members participated in the presentation and discussion of cases. The use of clinical cases as the basis for the presentations was greatly appreciated, allowing delegates to participate in the discussions and share their clinical practice so that everyone could learn from different experiences in different local settings.
The involvement of the participants was important. They intervened with numerous questions and comments, stimulating a pleasant discussion that continued even during lunch. Their active participation contributed to the richness of the discussions, creating a dynamic and collaborative atmosphere. The success of this event, characterized by insightful discussions and enthusiastic participation, underscores the valuable impact of ECCO's educational initiatives.
It was indeed a great pleasure to have an ECCO educational workshop in Bucharest and we look forward to the next one!
