Structure

European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation

The structure of European Crohn´s and Colitis Organisation (ECCO) is designed to ensure transparency, efficiency, and inclusivity in all operations. At the core of our governance model is a clear distribution of responsibilities among different bodies and roles, allowing us to function effectively while staying aligned with our mission and values.

ECCO is led by a Governing Board, which oversees day-to-day operations and implements strategic decisions approved by the General Assembly — the highest decision-making body composed of all active members. Supporting the Governing Board are various committees and working groups, each focused on specific areas of IBD research and care.

Our structure encourages participation and accountability, with regular meetings, open channels of communication, and defined processes for elections and the ECCO Code of Conduct. Our structure not only facilitates our current activities but also allows for growth and adaptation as ECCO evolves.

ECCO Elections

Annual elections for the available seats in different positions within ECCO are announced as open calls. The elections are fair, unbiased, and conducted objectively to ensure transparency and equal opportunity for all candidates.
