Report of the D-ECCO Travel Award
The D-ECCO Travel Award offers IBD Dietitians an opportunity to visit other IBD Centres, to learn about diet and nutrition in IBD. Next Call opens in January 2025. Guia Becherucci was awarded at ECCO’24 and travelled to the University Hospitals Leuven, Belgium.
D-ECCO Travel Award
The D-ECCO travel award provided me with an important opportunity to improve my skills in IBD, facilitating my visit to the esteemed IBD center at UZ Leuven, Belgium, thanks to my wonderful contact with Lihi Godny and the Israeli group.
This visit gave me an in-depth understanding of the operational dynamics of other groups, increasing my understanding of the dietary considerations and cultural perspectives important when treating patients from different backgrounds. This experience facilitated the evaluation of the clinical and pre-clinical research methodologies, allowing comparisons to be made that could improve the overall quality of work in the field of IBD.
My stay in Leuven provided me with a platform to exchange valuable opinions and insights between the various centres and to lay the foundations for collaborations and partnerships aimed at strengthening nutrition research in IBD. I therefore express my gratitude to D-ECCO for granting me this exceptional opportunity.
