JCC Plus: ECCO’s new fully open access journal
Editor‑in‑Chief, JCC Plus
Dear colleagues,
It is my great pleasure to introduce JCC Plus, ECCO’s newest publishing venture—an open access, peer‑reviewed journal that will open for submissions in August 2025.
Why a second ECCO journal? The Journal of Crohn’s & Colitis (JCC) is a premier destination for high‑impact mechanistic and clinical IBD research. Yet the IBD landscape has broadened far beyond the space that any single journal can cover. JCC Plus provides a dedicated, fully open access home for this wider scholarship.
What will JCC Plus cover? We welcome submissions across the full breadth of modern IBD science and care, with particular interest in the following areas:
- Global IBD – epidemiological and clinical studies that chart changing incidence, distinct phenotypes and context‑specific management priorities across diverse regions, health care systems and genetic backgrounds.
- Systemic manifestations and overlap with other IMIDs – research that highlights the multisystem nature of IBD, its intersection with other immune‑mediated inflammatory diseases and its impact on every dimension of life.
- Voices from multidisciplinary care – contributions from the entire IBD team, including nurses, dietitians, psychologists and allied health professionals, as well as, crucially, patients.
- IBD in society – work that quantifies the economic and societal burden of IBD, captures lived experience through qualitative research and informs health policy and service delivery.
In addition, we encourage protocol papers, clinical case reports and other article types that will benefit the wider IBD Community.
