Welcome to this interesting discussion with Dr. Haggai Bar-Yoseph and Dr. Yuri Gorelik , authors of the stimulating paper “GLP-1 Analog Use is Associated With Improved Disease Course in Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Report from the Epi-IIRN”. We had a great time conversing about the potential impact of the new therapeutic landscape in type 2 diabetes and obesity on IBD patient management and the importance of well-designed epidemiological studies and robust statistical analysis in providing meaningful results, especially in complex conditions where more than one comorbidity is present and concomitant treatments are used. Moreover, we talked about how their insights reinforce the need for a personalised approach to IBD in view of the emergence of specific subsets in our patient population such as IBD/obesity cases and also how they hope to expand on this work with a more detailed prospective cohort.
