IBD nursing has developed a significant international community that originated humbly in Weymouth, Dorset, in 1993, with just one nurse. Today, it is recognised worldwide as a specialised field crucial to the care of people with IBD. ECCO'26 in Stockholm will mark the 20th anniversary of the N-ECCO Network Meeting. Since its inception in 2006 at the invitation of the ECCO Educational Committee and the initial educational meeting in Innsbruck in 2007, the N-ECCO Network Meeting has developed into a globally significant event that has supported hundreds of nurses in advancing their IBD nursing practice. As its name indicates, the event functions not only as an educational platform but also as a crucial networking opportunity, fostering connections that share best practices across borders. The N-ECCO Network Meeting in Stockholm will feature an engaging programme that commemorates N-ECCO's history and highlights advanced practice themes throughout. The meeting will open with the updated N-ECCO Consensus Statements . Nurse-led research will be showcased in the abstract section, which will be followed by a session on aspects of nurse well-being. The final session will feature contributions on recent innovations in IBD nursing and a panel discussion on the future of IBD nursing. A celebration of IBD nursing’s progress and future, the N-ECCO Network Meeting 2026 is an event not to be missed.

Over the years, the ECCO Nurse Committee has worked with dedication to develop new educational formats that respond to the evolving needs of the nursing community. We started with a N-ECCO School model, moved to a dynamic, structured IBD Nurse Educational Programme and are now introducing the Train the Trainer (ToT) programme. Throughout, the goal has been to empower nurses and enhance multidisciplinary collaboration in IBD care. The N-ECCO Committee is delighted to present the upcoming ToT programme, a two-day in-person training and networking event designed for nurse-physician teams working in the field of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. This initiative will take place in Vienna, from June 11 to 13, 2026. The ToT programme is a unique opportunity to strengthen the role of IBD nurses internationally by equipping selected teams with the tools, knowledge and support needed to implement structured nurse education programmes in their own countries. Participants will receive a comprehensive introduction to the IBD Nurse Curriculum and gain hands-on experience in its application, guided by a faculty of international IBD experts. We warmly encourage you to join us in shaping the future of IBD nurse education. Together, we can develop sustainable, locally adapted training programmes that reflect the highest standards of care and collaboration.
