The Role of Multidisciplinary Care in LMIC IBD Management: A Nurse’s Perspective
Dear ECCO Family,
In this interview, Nicolas Avellaneda had the pleasure of speaking with Karin Davidson, a nurse from South Africa who participated in the development of the ECCO consensus on the management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
We explored the role of nurses within the multidisciplinary team caring for patients with IBD, as well as the challenges they encounter in daily clinical practice. The discussion also focused on the unique barriers faced in LMICs and how these challenges can influence the diagnosis, management, and outcomes of patients living with IBD.
It was a truly engaging and insightful conversation with many important takeaways for researchers, clinicians, and trainees alike.
I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed recording it.
Best regards,
Nicolas Avellaneda
