Y-ECCO Members’ Address
Y-ECCO Committee Chair
Dear Friends,
We have now entered the latter part of 2026 and this can mean only one thing: the next ECCO Congress is already on the horizon! With abstract submissions due in November, lots of work is already underway to ensure that the 22nd ECCO Congress in Copenhagen will be one of the best yet. In particular, we hope to offer lots of opportunities for Y-ECCO Members to get involved and to further develop networks and collaborations.
We will be running the 14th Y-ECCO Science Workshop on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 3, just prior to the start of the main Congress. This event will have an absolutely superstar faculty. James Lee, Manasi Agrawal and Raja Atreya will respectively be delivering keynote talks on translational research, the environment and exposome, and cellular therapy in IBD. Besides the keynote talks, we are looking forward to the selected abstracts from Y-ECCO Members and research grant awardees, which will cover the breadth of clinical, translational and laboratory science in IBD.
In addition to the Y-ECCO Science Workshop, the Y-ECCO Future Leaders in IBD Academy will be running in Vienna in 2027, providing networking, collaborative, teamwork and leadership opportunities for 30 Y-ECCO Members from around the world, supported by a stellar faculty of global IBD experts. It has been great to see the large number of applications received, which is testament to the high level of achievements and motivation of young clinicians and researchers from all parts of the globe.
In September we hosted a highly successful Y-ECCO Webinar on perianal Crohn’s Disease, and we will be working with several other ECCO Committees and, indeed, sister organisations such as the EULAR EMEUENT Committee (rheumatology) to deliver more multidisciplinary webinar content over the coming year.
The Y-ECCO Literature Reviews have now moved to JCC Plus, where they are published online, and are going from success to success. I would like to encourage all members to check out these well-written critical appraisal articles on recent hot topics in IBD and would encourage all Y-ECCO Members to consider writing a literature review. This is a great way to get involved as a Y-ECCO Member. Anybody interested in making a contribution can reach out to Florian Tran or Marieke Barnhoorn from our Y-ECCO Committee.
Stay tuned for more opportunities to become involved, including for more details about Y-ECCO-supported events in 2027!
With that I wish you all a great year ahead.
Nuru Noor
