The 24th IBD Intensive Course for Trainees will be held on February 18, 2026, in Stockholm, just ahead of the ECCO Congress. Since its launch in 2003, this course has become a key part of ECCO’s educational offerings, providing advanced trainees with a focused and high-quality learning experience in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). It continues to serve as a vital stepping stone for young clinicians seeking to deepen their expertise and connect with peers and mentors from across Europe and beyond.

This year’s course introduces a refreshed format that reflects the evolving needs of IBD education. To complement traditional lecture-based teaching, the programme will focus on case-based learning, holistic care and interactive discussion. Clinical scenarios will be used to explore therapeutic strategies disease monitoring, and surgical considerations in a more integrated and practical way. This approach aims to foster critical thinking and real-world decision-making, while also embedding key pharmacological principles within clinical contexts.

The course will also feature expanded round table discussions, offering participants the opportunity to engage directly with faculty in small-group settings. These sessions will cover a range of important themes, including pouchitis and postoperative recurrence, and are designed to encourage open dialogue, peer learning and deeper exploration of complex clinical issues.

Participation is by invitation, with nominations coordinated through ECCO National Representatives. The faculty, selected for both their clinical expertise and their teaching excellence, will guide discussions and ensure a dynamic and collegial learning environment.

At the end of the course, participants will receive a certificate of attendance and CME credits. We look forward to welcoming you to Stockholm for a stimulating and collaborative educational experience at the 24th IBD Intensive Course for Trainees.
