Save the date: the ECCO Postgraduate Course in IBD goes annual, in a new two-day format
EduCom Chair
The 5th ECCO Postgraduate Course in IBD will take place on Wednesday, March 3 and Thursday, March 4, 2027, immediately ahead of the ECCO Congress in Copenhagen. Building on the success of previous editions, in 2027 the course will undergo its most significant evolution yet, reflecting EduCom's ongoing commitment to the educational needs of the IBD Community.
Starting with this edition, the Postgraduate Course will become an annual fixture in the ECCO Calendar, expanding from its traditional single-day format into a full two-day programme. The extended format will allow for a more comprehensive and balanced curriculum, with Wednesday afternoon being dedicated to Crohn's Disease—from redefinition of realistic treatment targets and selection of advanced therapies to personalised medicine and in-depth case-based discussion—and Thursday morning to Ulcerative Colitis (UC), including advanced therapy selection and treatment safety.
A key novelty of this edition is the inclusion of dedicated endoscopy sessions, covering UC endoscopic assessment and dysplasia surveillance, management of dysplastic and neoplastic lesions and the growing role of artificial intelligence in IBD endoscopy—topics increasingly central to everyday clinical practice but rarely addressed in this depth within a postgraduate format.
As in previous years, the course will bring together some of the leading international experts in the field, combining the most relevant recent advances with interactive, case-based discussion. The outstanding faculty will guide participants through real clinical scenarios—including steroid management, medication selection, and the management of IBD in pregnancy and in older patients with comorbidities—offering an exceptional opportunity to learn directly from world-renowned authorities in IBD.
The course is recommended for experienced gastroenterologists with an interest in IBD. ECCO Membership for 2027 will be required. Register here.
The organisers hope that this expanded format will make the course an even more valuable and participative experience, and encourage colleagues to attend in high numbers. As in previous editions, active participant engagement will remain central to the course's format.
We look forward to welcoming you in Copenhagen on March 3–4, 2027.
