PSG - Societas Gastroenterologiae Polonia

The first professional organization of Polish gastroenterologists was the Gastroenterology Section of the Warsaw Medical Association established in 1909. In 1935 Polish delegates of the Gastroenterology Section took part in the founding congress of the World Gastroenterology Organization. PSG was re-established in 1977 and now consists of 11 regional branches. National congresses of the Society are held every 2 years. The following sections of PSG have been registered: endoscopic, pancreatic, Helicobacter pylori, motility, molecular biology and the newest, intestinal section, with more than 50 members since 2006. In 2008 Poland joined the ECCO Family.
