The educational programme is scheduled prior to the official start of the ECCO Congress. It covers activities for ECCO's different interest groups including young gastroenterologists, surgeons, paediatricians, pathologists, IBD Nurses and allied health professionals and scientists.
The annual IBD Intensive Course for Trainees is a one day course which takes place prior to the ECCO Congress. It was initiated in 2003 by EduCom with the general aim to provide advanced fellows and junior faculty in gastroenterology with a multidisciplinary broad base of knowledge in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
For several years ECCO has been exploring ways to increase nurse education opportunities throughout Europe. ECCO believes it is essential to develop a comprehensive, practical education programme for IBD Nurses, which aims to increase the number of IBD Nurses and enhances their role.
The ECCO: EduCational COurses for Industry are now organised by ClinCom and are split up between the Basic and the Advanced ECCO: EduCational COurse for Industry. One course takes place every year. At the ECCO'24 Congress, the Basic ECCO EduCational COurse for Industry will take place.
The H-ECCO IBD Masterclass is organised by the Histopathologists of ECCO (H-ECCO). This course is divided into two sessions (two days) that cover different topics.
The Imaging Workshops are hands-on, practical workshops on endoscopy, bowel ultrasound and MRI for the evaluation and monitoring of patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease and provide a unique opportunity to gain specialist knowledge and some practical experience in this evolving field, which will facilitate non-invasive monitoring and change your practice.

The N-ECCO Network Meeting provides educational and networking opportunities and covers all aspects of IBD with a mix of presentations from nursing, medical, surgical and paediatric specialties. It has been well attended with attendance increasing every year.
At the ECCO Congress in Copenhagen 2014, the Paediatric Committee launched a new educational activity with the goal to bring paediatric treatments closer to adult physicians as well as IBD Nurses and to provide continuous medical education with the ultimate aim to provide a smooth transition from paediatric to adult care. The P-ECCO Educational Course is taking place annually at the ECCO Congress.
The 12th SciCom Workshop will take place at ECCO'24 Congress in Stockholm.
Organised every year, the aims of this masterclass are to discuss all the aspects of IBD surgery in a multidisciplinary approach and to give insight into the new surgical medical strategy and surgical techniques. The S-ECCO IBD Masterclass focuses on a range of hot topics in IBD surgery.
This workshop invites young basic scientists to present and discuss their own research with peers and senior opinion leaders.
The success of this Europe-wide nursing collaboration has provided momentum and an opportunity for nurses to connect on this matter, with N-ECCO having hosted the inaugural N-ECCO Research Forum for nurses. The N-ECCO Research Forum is taking place every other year and the next edition will be at the ECCO'24 Congress.
At the 12th Congress of ECCO in 2016, N-ECCO and ClinCom launched the 1st edition of the School for Clinical Trialists, tailored towards Clinical and IBD Nurses, and also allied health professionals. Now fully organised by ClinCom, the next edition of the course will be at the ECCO'25 Congress.
The EpiCom Workshop’s focus is on the design and execution of epidemiological trials in IBD. The primary objective of the workshop is to explain the design and methodology of epidemiological studies. The course is designed for specialists and junior scientists with a special interest in epidemiology.
The ClinCom Workshop is another great course offered by the the Clinical Research Committee of ECCO. The ClinCom Workshop is taking place every other year and the next edition will be at the ECCO'24 Congress in Stockholm.
The ECCO-AOCC Forum is taking place every other year. The next one will take place again at ECCO'25.
