It is that time of year when we write to tell you, with great pleasure, about the N-ECCO Activities scheduled for the 19th Congress of ECCO, to be held on February 21–24, 2024, in Stockholm, Sweden. As in previous years, the N-ECCO Committee has worked hard to put together a broad programme covering clinical, educational and research topics.

The Congress will start with the 15th N-ECCO School educational day. The programme for the School continues to be developed on the basis of feedback from attendees in previous years, with the aim of meeting the needs of nurses new to IBD. A big ‘thank you’ to everyone who has attended the School over the years and provided feedback. As previously, the N-ECCO School will be open to nurses and dietitians working in IBD. The N-ECCO School offers a great starting point for nurses less experienced in IBD and provides an excellent platform to interact with nurses from across Europe and beyond. Among the topics planned for coverage in the presentations are pathophysiology of the gastrointestinal tract, medical and surgical treatment options, adherence to medications and the different nurse roles in IBD management. Please note that applications for the N-ECCO School should be submitted to your N-ECCO Country Representative. The deadline for nominations was September 1, 2023.

At the 18th N-ECCO Network Meeting, the main programme for IBD Nurses, we will cover new developments in IBD, in both clinical practice and research. Once again, we have secured excellent speakers. If you would like to present the findings of your research, please submit an abstract. The call for ECCO’24 abstracts is currently open and the deadline for submission is November 20, 2023. The best four abstracts submitted to the nurse programme will be selected for oral presentation and the other abstracts will be selected for poster presentation. This is a great way to promote your research and creates a lot of interest from delegates. The best poster will be awarded the prize of a free registration for ECCO’25 Congress.

During the ECCO Congress we will also run the 8th N-ECCO Research Forum, a half-day programme targeted at IBD Nurses and allied health professionals. The programme offers an excellent opportunity to those new to research, providing guidance on how to conduct literature reviews, prepare research projects and get papers published. The Forum is also a great platform for all researchers, whether new or experienced, to network and build fresh collaborations. This could be a wonderful opportunity to design your next international research project!

The Congress helps all delegates not only to network with ‘old’ friends but, importantly, also to establish new contacts and collaborations. Make sure that you don’t miss this opportunity! Submit your abstract, book your ticket and come and join us and your colleagues from across Europe and beyond. We are waiting for you with a fantastic and thought-provoking programme.

See you in Stockholm!
