Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to ECCO 2025, the 20th Congress of ECCO, which will be held in Berlin. As you know, in 2024 the REACH strategy was successfully introduced with the objective of focusing on a single letter each year. In 2025, the focus will be on the letter ‘A’, which corresponds to the objective of Attaining Sustainable IBD Care.

Thus, the theme of the congress will be “Sustainability in IBD and Beyond”. This theme is more than just a title – it is a call to action for all of us to integrate sustainable practices into every aspect of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) care.

This congress offers a unique platform for nurses to showcase the invaluable contributions they make in this field, whether through innovative practices, patient education or new approaches to care. By presenting your work, you will not only demonstrate the value of nursing care but also contribute to a global exchange of knowledge. The ECCO Congress is not just about sharing what we know; it is about inspiring each other, learning from our international peers and moving forward collectively. The more we share, the more we grow and the better we can care for our patients.

Over the past few years, we have seen a notable increase in the number of nursing abstracts submitted, rising from 20 in 2022 to 31 in 2023. Last year, we achieved a record number of abstract submissions, 52, which reflects the growing interest and dedication among nurses to the advancement of our field. Let us continue this momentum by making 2025 the year with the highest number of submissions yet!

We encourage you to take this opportunity to share your scientific work by submitting an abstract via the ECCO Portal, and be sure to review the important information about submission guidelines and deadlines.

We are also pleased to announce that four abstracts will be selected for oral presentation during the 19th N-ECCO Network Meeting, and the authors of the remaining accepted abstracts will be invited to present their work as posters. In addition, a prize will be awarded for the best poster, as judged by the N-ECCO Committee.

Please remember that this congress is not just about showcasing your work, but also about networking, fostering collaborations and creating lasting connections with colleagues across Europe. Through these networks, we can support each other in implementing sustainable practices and ensure that every patient receives the best possible care, regardless of where they are located.

We look forward to receiving your abstracts and to welcoming you in Berlin.

Best regards,
Simona Radice and Adriana Rivera Sequeiros
