This summer saw the arrival of an additional novel way to participate in ECCO Education, the “Fast Facts in IBD 2024” Online Course. This live interactive online course took place on June 12, 2024 from 17:00 to 19:00 CEST. The course content was specially designed by EduCom for all gastroenterologists treating patients with IBD in their practice and was delivered in a format suited to virtual learning. 98 participants registered for this event (which was free of charge to all current ECCO Members).

In the first session, an expert ECCO Faculty gave the participants short rapid updates on common challenges in daily IBD care (with each talk lasting just ten minutes). Topics covered included the challenges of managing refractory ulcerative proctitis, Crohn’s strictures, pouchitis in UC and peri-anal disease in CD. The second session dealt with common extra-intestinal manifestations such as fatigue, skin problems, joint pains and liver problems. Each of the two sessions was followed by a live Q&A with very lively interactive panel discussions. The feedback on the event has been very positive and this is certainly an exciting virtual learning opportunity that EduCom plans to repeat to allow ECCO Members access to the latest IBD facts and to learn them fast!

The Faculty for Fast Facts in IBD included Glen Doherty (Ireland), Tim Raine (UK), Krisztina Gecse (the Netherlands), João Sabino (Belgium), Dominik Bettenworth (Germany), Uri Kopylov (Israel), Robert Battat (Canada), Nora Cazzagon (Italy), Triana Lobatón (Belgium), Lev Pavlovsky (Israel) and Kostas Karmiris (Greece).
